Dr. Shrawan Bhandari, Veterinarian, BVSc, MSC, PhD, PgDiPVCS
Dr. Shrawan Bhandari is a New Zealand registered mixed practitioner and has several years of working experience both with pets and farm animals. Originally from Nepal, he migrated to New Zealand in 2004 and is now a NZ citizen. Besides overseas, in New Zealand he has worked as a vet in South Canterbury, Manawatu and Waikato regions.
He was qualified as a vet (BVSc) in 2001. After working for two years in mixed practice, he completed a masters degree from Massey University specialising in reproduction in 2004. He then moved to Canada and worked at University of Saskatoon. He came back to New Zealand to undertake a PhD in lung infections. After five years of research works, he successfully completed the doctoral degree from Christchurch School of Medicine, Otago University. He then studied at Massey to complete a postgraduate diploma in small animal oncology (study of cancers) and anaesthesia. He is very keen to keep himself update on the new research areas that can be applied to everyday vet practice.

Yukari grew up in Osaka, Japan, surrounded by many kinds of small animals including pets and wildlife rescues. These experiences fostered a passion for animal welfare and her subsequent involvement in the veterinary industry. Yukari moved to New Zealand in 2014 to study veterinary nursing and has since come to love the New Zealand way of life. She looks forward to building her career and life here.
In her spare time, Yukari enjoys playing classical piano, walking on beach and in the bush and exploring new parts of New Zealand. Yukari is fluent in English and is also learning Korean and Mandarin.
Yukari does not currently have any pets, but looks forward to having her fur family once she is settled in Tauranga. In the meantime, she is excited to devote all her love to SmartVets patients!
