Preparing your pet for the surgery.
To make the anaesthetic procedure as safe as possible one criteria is that your pet is not fed the morning of the surgery (12 hour fast). Feed the normal evening or night meal before about 8.00pm the night before, this ensures that there is no food in the stomach at the time the surgery is performed.

  • You do not need to withdraw water before you leave for the clinic, as water moves out of an empty stomach quickly.
  • You can drop your pet off anytime between 7.30am and 9.00am.on the morning of the surgery.
  • You will be given an anaesthetic/surgery/procedure consent chart for you to read and sign.
  • Pets having spay or neuter surgery can generally be picked up between 4.00pm and 8.00pm the same day.
